New Brunswick tri-party announces new date for aSMR supply chain event

Saint John, New Brunswick (Thursday, February 17, 2022) – Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME), along with the First Nations Power Authority (FNPA), are hosting an interactive and inclusive New Brunswick advanced Small Modular Reactor (aSMR) supply chain event on behalf of Moltex Energy, ARC Clean Energy Canada (ARC Canada) and NB Power.

The event, originally scheduled for October 28, 2021, was postponed for health and safety concerns, and will now be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at the Saint John Trade and Convention Centre.

In keeping with the event’s primary focus of promoting economic development in New Brunswick, the theme will be Generating Benefits for New Brunswick, with the following objectives in mind:

  • Providing progress updates from tri-party members
  • Promoting discussion and networking opportunities
  • Informing participants of opportunities and timelines
  • Providing a forum for interactive breakout sessions dedicated to:
    • Becoming “fit for SMRs”
    • Industry support
    • Indigenous partnerships

The daylong event will begin at 9am and close with a reception from 4-5pm. Doors open at 8:30am for registration.

CME and FNPA are co-hosting the event to maximize efforts in connecting the Indigenous, manufacturing and business communities.

Tri-party members continue to collaborate in areas of supply chain development, shared infrastructure, common fleet services and energy park opportunities, positioning the province as a manufacturing hub that supports the aSMR market.

Invitations to register for the event will be sent out in early March.
