Saint John, New Brunswick (Wednesday, June 16, 2021) – Moltex Energy is grateful for the opportunity to participate in a workshop series hosted by the North Shore Micmac District Council (NSMDC). The workshops, which will take place on June 16, 17, 28 and July 14, are designed to inform NSMDC’s strategic plan to support the development of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in New Brunswick, including enabling opportunities for local First Nations communities.
The first workshop, which will focus on industry collaboration, will include presentations from Moltex, NB Power and ARC Clean Energy, among others. The second workshop will focus on the supply chain and the third and fourth workshops will be dedicated to analyzing the findings and developing a strategic multi-year plan.
“This is a fantastic initiative that will allow NSMDC to develop a plan that considers industry needs and supply chain capabilities,” said Rory O’Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer, Moltex Energy. “We are thrilled to be included and will continue doing all we can to ensure First Nations benefit from the development and deployment of SMRs in New Brunswick.”
Moltex and NSMDC have a strong partnership, which was formalized in February 2020 when the two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to work collaboratively on the development and implementation of Moltex’s SMR technology, while identifying and enabling employment and economic opportunities for First Nations in New Brunswick.

We are also both committed to creating long-term, well-paid jobs for First Nations youth, and unlocking new revenue streams for First Nations businesses and communities.”
First Nations support is critical to business success is New Brunswick, and Moltex welcomes engagement with all local First Nations Tribal Councils and communities.
