Moltex encourages students to learn about nuclear during Nuclear Science Week

Saint John, New Brunswick (Monday, October 16, 2023) Moltex Energy Canada Inc. (Moltex) will be speaking with students about nuclear energy during Nuclear Science Week, which runs from October 16-20 this year.

“With the increasing urgency surrounding climate change, it’s important for young people not only to understand the pivotal role of nuclear energy in delivering clean and reliable power, but also to consider pursuing careers in this growing industry,” said Rory O’Sullivan, CEO, Moltex.

This year, Moltex representatives will host discussions about nuclear energy and small modular reactors (SMRs) at Rothesay High School, Kennebecasis Valley High School, and Harrison Trimble High School. Students will be encouraged to ask questions and reflect on how they can participate in New Brunswick’s clean energy future.

Throughout the week, Moltex will share facts and interesting trivia about nuclear energy on its social media pages. Additionally, it will present a series of videos featuring employees in both technical and non-technical roles, discussing what led them to pursue nuclear careers, what they find most fulfilling, and offering advice to young people considering their career paths.

Moltex worked with the provincial Centre of Excellence for Energy to organize this week’s activities, and has maintained a year-round partnership with the centre to engage and educate youth about nuclear energy.

Nuclear Science Week is an international, broadly observed week-long celebration to focus local, regional, national and international interest on all aspects of nuclear science. Nuclear Science Week takes place each year on the third week of October.
